First Mark 2 Arrives at Norchard

The Dean Forest Railway Society is pleased to announce the arrival of its first Mark 2 carriage, number 5175. Purchased from a private owner at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, it will play a key part in releasing some of the Mark 1 TSO carriages that currently form the running set and are need of renovation work.

The carriage will now be fully examined, tested and passed fit for service prior to use for the Santa Special trains operating in December. At the same time, some of the windows will be replaced and the bodywork polished to freshen up the maroon livery.


Meanwhile, work continues on the Societys other Mark 2a TSO, number 5341. Further updates will be provided as and when they become available, but everything is going according to plan.


While the 2018 carriage project is drawing to a close, the Society would still welcome donations towards the ongoing engineering work on 5341 and transport of both coaches to the DFR. You can find out how to help by following the link below:
