Vanwide/VEA Progress

The Dean Forest Rail announced on the 27th February the purchase of a small rake of Vanwide VEA’s for preservation.

Several of these vans were delivered to the DFR site at Lydney junction for work to be undertaken by Valley Rail preservation.

The work is intensive with metal work being stripped of paint and the wooden sides being replaced followed by full repainting.


One wagon has almost reached completion while work is still ongoing on several others.
